Why has my card been charged when the task hasn't started?

Payments on Taskhelper happen through Taskhelper Credit, our escrow payment system supported by the payment provider Stripe.

How does it work?

  1. A task is posted.
  2. The Poster receive offers from Helpers who would like to complete the task.
  3. When the Poster accepts a Helper's offer, money is debited from the Poster's account and stored securely in escrow prior to the completion of the task.
  4. After the Helper completes the task, they can request payment.
  5. The Poster needs to release the payment, which the Helper will receive in their bank account within 3-5 business days.

Because it's a simple method of payment that you know you can rely on, Taskhelper Credit is excellent for Posters. Additionally, if you're not satisfied with how the work was completed, it provides you with the chance to discuss it with your Helper using our free dispute resolution service. If a task is disputed, payment is still kept in escrow.

The payment will be there for Helper when they finish the job because it has already been secured, which is another benefit of this approach.

The secured payments can be reimbursed to your card or used as credit in the unfortunate event that a task is cancelled (whichever you prefer). See here for further details about refunds.
