To ensure that everyone has the same opportunity, we don't allow private messages until the task has been assigned. 

A task's comments area provides a forum for open conversations and bargaining.

Simply select the task that interests you, scroll down to the comments section, and start a conversation. Until you are given the task, everyone will be able to see the comments.

Although your remarks will be seen by everyone, only you and the customer may see your offer. In this manner, undercutting is prevented, and the playing field is levelled for everybody.
