How should I decide what price to offer?

Here at Taskhelper, we are dedicated to making sure that everyone is treated with the utmost fairness. To ensure an offer is good, it must adhere to our Community Standards and be sufficiently rewarding for a Helper to complete a task.

From a Helper's perspective, an offer needs to be the full amount expected after completing a task. Offers to complete only a portion of a task are not allowed. The same goes for offers that are hourly, unit-, or quote-based.

A notification informing you that your offer cannot be made until a reasonable sum is proposed will appear if your offer is unexpectedly low in comparison to the Poster's suggested budget. You will need to revise your offer price to match the effort necessary to finish the full assignment if you want to be considered for the task.

Offers must typically be for the entire amount. However, there are some exceptions, such as:

  • Tip fees: the price of properly disposing of objects at an authorized disposal station.
  • Materials: includes the price of the supplies needed to execute the task and the location where the Poster will store the supplies and finished product when the assignment is finished, such as wood for building a closet or cloth for a dress.
  • Items bought on behalf of a Poster: Cost of products purchased on a Poster's behalf, such as groceries and shopping, that the Poster keeps when the work is over.

Please inform the Poster before you charge any additional fees if you anticipate having to pay them as part of your work. A Poster may directly compensate you for these expenses after verifying that you and the Poster agree that they are reasonable and requesting a copy of the relevant receipts.

Travel expenses (such as fuel or bus tickets) and equipment expenses CANNOT be excluded.

We ask you to be upfront about your offer from the beginning to build trust and improve the membership experience for everyone.

Be specific in your comments about why you chose the amount you did when making an offer.

When deciding on what price to offer for a task, please ask yourself these things:

  • Is the task close or far? Do I need to consider my travel costs?
  • Am I happy to receive this amount for the work I will do?
  • Will I make any expenses on the Poster's behalf for which I will be directly reimbursed? Are any of my expenses exempt?
